House 12 – Solitude and Spirituality

Is your life profound?

If our life was a palace, as mentioned before: the gate would be House 1 (and Ascendant), the safe would be House 2; the car would be House 3; the land would be House 4; the playground garden would be House 5; the study would be House 6; the guestroom would be House 7; the couple’s bedroom would be House 8; the library would be House 9; the roof would be House 10; the dining room would be House 11.

House 12 is considered one of the most mysterious and transcendent Houses of the astrological universe. It represents the palace’s Meditation Room, i.e., the profound internalization experiences that take us to a Beyond.

This area of life is a kind of Zen Space on which we retreat to rest, reflect, ponder and get in touch with our most profound and unconscious Self.

Obviously, this House is associated to spirituality, but also to getaway situations from work and daily life reality (House 6). For that reason, it also represents the experiences of the moments of retreat: weekends; night; vacations.

Prisons, hospitals and monasteries are in this House’s domain, as well as discotheques, bars, some touristic resorts – all the spaces outside of the normal reality of the daily life.

People with many planets in this area of life will be challenged to be alone, to create their most sheltered and isolated world, as an enchanted island. They will be pushed to make a profound contact with the surrounding Nature.

In a more conditioning perspective, House 12 can also be understood as situations that force to stop and reflect, like a prolonged leave of absence, a situation of professional inactivity or a disease.

House 12 also represents concern with the social and civilizational problems, all of humanity’s crisis and diseases, for it is also designated as the House of martyrs or “saviours” of the world.

People with the Sun in this House will tend to seek a certain isolation and privacy, living the spirituality issues with some naturalness. There will be a tendency for having an absent Father.

With the Moon in this House, the individual may feel insecure in being alone, probably due to a precocious feeling of abandonment associated to the mother. However, this can be a position of great intuition and change in the relationship with the transphysical Universe.

With Mercury in this area of life, it will be natural a somewhat questioning spirit of all that is mysterious or hidden. It is common in people that struggled with school integration.

Venus in House 12 is a frequent position in clandestine love. However, it also indicates the possibility of unconditional love for others, for the embrace and collective causes.

Mars in this House suggests difficulties in dealing with solitude and some tendency for hospitalization and surgery situations. There will be a tendency for psychic agitation, and in some cases, the suppression of self-affirmation. It is the position of the spiritual warrior.

Jupiter in House 12 suggests protection against existential crisis and severe problems, as well as the “salvation” for the single dedication to a cause. It is a position of faith in the divine and a sign of a full extra-professional life.

With Saturn in House 12, wisdom will be achieved through profound processes of internal pacification, in a way to overcome unconscious fears of abandonment and solitude, or other self-imposed blockades.

With the transpersonal planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) in this House, the meditative experiences can become fundamental for the existential, mental and physical catharsis.

In case you were born early morning, about two hours after the sunrise, approximately between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., depending on the country and time of year, you will have the Sun in House 12.

In such circumstances, it will be really important to find a profound sense for your life, know how to promote purely contemplative moments in Nature, and a purpose of social aid.

The search for a spiritual path will be much recommended in this case, as well as the voluntary service and a genuine interest regarding issues that affect society.

Many famous people were born with the Sun in House 12. These are noteworthy: Gandhi; Richard Branson; Tony Blair; among others.

This House is equally important if there is more than one planet positioned in it. To verify this, and in case you do not have your map yet, please refer to the annex at the end of the Ebook Houses of Happiness(Free download Here).

House 12 has a natural affinity with Pisces, the twelfth sign of the Zodiac.
