House 9 – Travels and Theory

Do you know which culture you can develop?

If our life was a palace, as mentioned several times before: the gate would be House 1 (and Ascendant), the safe would be House 2; the car would be House 3; the land would be House 4; the playground garden would be House 5; the study would be House 6; the guestroom would be House 7; House 8 would be the couple’s bedroom.

House 9 is a space of culture, education and wisdom: it is the palace’s Library.

Here, we develop our moral, philosophical and ethical references, so it is associated to Education, in its highest aspect. The way we were raised and our position towards religion will be represented in the dynamic of this House.

For instance, a person with Capricorn in House 8 was probably raised in a more traditional and conservative way, with principles of responsibility and duty.

In general, this House is associated to academic learning, more profound and theoretical, as in classic University courses or Master’s degrees and Doctorates. It is the House of Doctors.

People with many planets in this House tend to seek cultural and institutional respect through their studies, in order to feel safe about their futures and give a sense to their lives.

In reality, House 9 also represents the way how we design our own life, the divinity, and how we create our intellectual creativity. It has to do with our personal Faith.

In a sense that it is a House of expanding mental horizons and abstract studies, it is also associated to abroad and long distance travels, for an extended period. It is an international space.

With the Sun in this House, it is natural that the individual feels some ease in educating, studying and believing, being able to find his identity abroad or having a father that travels constantly.

With the Moon in House 9, there will be more insecurity in believing, cycles of absence of the path on which it is important to travel, and naturally, the Mother may have been the most important reference in moral terms.

With Mercury, the individual may be a good researcher, analyst and scholar, wanting to rationalize all conception of existence. He may be skilled in speaking foreign languages.

Venus in House 9 is the most common position for infatuations when travelling or marriage with foreigners. Education might have been more benevolent and there will be principles of harmony towards others.

With Mars in House 9, there will be a tendency for a rougher and more aggressive education, what might create a big desire for travelling and study, in order to counter such cultural limitation.

With Jupiter, there will naturally be a liberal and tolerant education, as well as a belief in the divine and future abundance. There may be a capability for teaching, sometimes, prophetic gifts and many international opportunities.

With Saturn, there will be a more conservative tendency and some difficulty in believing in yourself. However, with maturity, it is the most promising position in terms of ethical and cultural consistency.

In case you were born at the beginning of the afternoon, about two hours after noon, approximately between midday and 2:00 p.m., depending on the time of year and country you were born, you will have the Sun in House 9.

If that is the case, it is important that you grow the habit of travelling, that you create intellectual projects, that you learn to dream and, mainly, to educate.

Even though you have a tendency for a somewhat platonic life, it is important that you develop a profound faith and that you explore cultural themes of public interest. The motto is to believe more in yourself.

Some famous personalities with the Sun in House 9 are: José Saramago; Michael Schumacher; Carlos Castaneda; among others.

This House is equally important if there is more than one planet positioned in it. To verify this, and in case you do not have your map yet, please refer to the annex at the end of the Ebook Houses of Happiness (free download here).

House 9 has a natural affinity with Sagittarius, the ninth sign of the Zodiac.
